It's a game I want to own, I like all my owned games on Steam and I like to be able to mod my pc games. Personally speaking, I'm probably going to pick it up during this sale even though I have Game Pass for several reasons. Not sure why they would be "disingenuous" over a small issue as this since their integrity is at stake, but as I said, I haven't done much of my own research. Ok, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt as I haven't done any research beyond the Digital Foundry vid and PC Gamer article. Get fidelity and fix those issues without a mod and steam will then be the place to play it on PC.
Ok, we get some new outfits with mods, cool, ok there's a god mode, alright, I don't care, the steam version is missing some huge benefits the GP version has, and Mods at this point don't win it for the steam version.
Who is going to really download the texture upgrade mod on steam? Lots of users can't even use it to begin with. I love mods too, and they do give a game many extra things, but right now the game pass is better. It's not locked away forever at that fps lol. Especially evident that the frame pacing can be addressed on GP. The video just screams they're grasping at straws to try and promote the steam version just because it accepts mods. "yea, you can use fidelity.if you want", "yea the HDR is there and resolution fix, and improvement, but". Then they go on to diminish the improvements with which gamepass implemented. Yea, then when talking about the Mod, he used terms like "Perfect" fps, well, that's achievable with the GP version, that is a false statement by them. Like I said Micro stutter is such a bogus thing to say, it's like who in the PC community would even say that, because they know what could be causing it, and what can fix it. Temporal aliasing used when AA is turned on, ok, turn it off, it isn't good in either version because the game already has a built in AA. Yea, they're being disingenuous, more gpu heavy = bad for global illumination to them in this instance, yet it could be seen as a plus for many that prefer the gpu be used more. Kaldaien also calls out "an even worse implementation of AO," or ambient occlusion, in the Game Pass version." But almost all of the graphical issues in Automata fixed by the FAR mod are still present in the Game Pass version. "The new port of Nier: Automata does have a built-in borderless mode now, which is a positive. Here is just one quote regarding the GP version: I don't have a dog in the fight and have already completed Nier Automata when it came out on PS4 but I may buy it on Steam to play thru again because the Steam version with mods is objectively better than the GP version.
I'm hoping steam's version get the update soon, because I'd rather play it through steam where most of my library is, and the controller support. The GP version is without a doubt objectively better. They basically just say the micro stutter, and no mods is why it isn't better lol.
Running the game 1080p on a 1440p monitor and I see very little difference from native.Īlso be weary as usual for false information on the net as even Digital foundry's opinion is being used to drive a narrative that the GP version isn't better. I'm actually using FidelityFX and it does an excellent job. Other then that turn off AA and you're good to go. There is a possibility that other IME will not function correctly with it.Originally posted by m4zz0981:I'm currently playing on game pass, and the only issue I ran into is a micro stutter every few seconds, which Digital Foundry mentioned in their review of it, which I will say is fixable, as per usual with all PC game's sometimes frame pacing takes some trial and error. This product only supports MS-IME keyboard input. However, please be aware that 4K resolutions are not officially supported. Depending on the monitor and PC graphics card environment and setup used, this title can expand its display resolution to 4K.
